About Bob Hagan
Bob Hagan was first elected to office in 1986 as a State Representative for the 53rd house district, which covered all of the Greater Youngstown area. From 1986-1988, Bob served in the State House with his father Robert E. Hagan and they became the first father and son combination to serve in the Ohio General Assembly. Bob served in the State House until 1997 when he accepted an appointment to the State Senate.
He was elected to the State Senate in 1998 and reelected in 2002. While in the State Senate, Bob accepted the position of Assistant Minority Whip for the Democratic caucus as well as serving on four standing committees: Health, Human Services and Aging; Highways and Transportation; Energy, Natural Resource and Environment (ranking minority member) and the Rules Committee.
In 2006, Bob was elected to serve the citizens of the 60th State House district. This district, situated in Mahoning County, covers the Youngstown area. He currently sits on five standing committees: Economic Development and Environment; Finance and Appropriations; Health; Ways and Means and the Transportation and Justice Subcommittee, where he is the Ranking Minority Member.
Bob Hagan's family has a long history of public service. His father served in the Ohio General Assembly and was a candidate for Lieutenant Governor. His brother Tim currently serves as a Cuyahoga County Commissioner and was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Ohio in 2002. Prior to being elected to office, Bob worked as a locomotive engineer for CSX Transportation Inc., where he still works when not in session. Bob has thirteen siblings and five children of his own. He lives in Youngstown with his wife Michele.
